Planning Manager,
Ventura County, CA


Ventura County invites applications for a Planning Manager (Commercial and Industrial Permits) position with an excellent benefits package and salary range from $92,097.87 to $128,949.66 annually; salary dependent upon career experience and qualifications. The ideal candidate will be a highly-motivated individual with expertise in planning principles and practice, exceptional communication skills, and proven success managing, mentoring, and motivating professional staff. The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated ability implementing Zoning Ordinance regulations, general plan policies, and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Individuals who are American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certified and hold a Master’s degree in Urban Planning, or a related field from an accredited university, and experience working with Surface Mining and Gas and Oil Extraction entitlements are highly desired.

The following experience and education is desired: a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, or a related field; a minimum of five years increasingly responsible experience performing varied and complex planning work; two or more years management experience leading a team of professional staff; experience implementing state and/or local natural resources extraction regulations (e.g.: surface mining, oil and gas production); two years experience preparing CEQA required environmental impact reports; AICP certification.
