COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR CITY OF VALLEJO, CA


Exciting transformations are underway in this diverse waterfront community located midway between Sacramento and San Francisco. The largest City in Solano County, Vallejo (pop. 121,000) is a full-service charter city operating under the Council-Manager form of government. The Community Development Department consists of Planning, Building, and Administration and is supported by a staff of 19.

Vallejo is seeking a creative and solutions-oriented leader who is capable of balancing community interests while advancing the City Council’s vision. Relevant community development and urban planning experience combined with a strong understanding of economic development will be expected. The ideal candidate will be an empowering manager who encourages innovation and has a history of building and leading strong teams. Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in urban planning, which includes at least two (2) years of management experience, and a Bachelor’s degree are required. A Master’s degree and/or AICP certification is desirable.
