In the heart of the Silicon Valley, Redwood City (pop. 86,380) is the third largest city in San Mateo County. With an annual budget of $20.9 million and 67.15 FTE, the Community Development and Transportation Department provides a wide range of services including building regulation and code enforcement, engineering and transportation, GIS, and planning services. The Department has successfully implemented forward-thinking efforts to support transit-oriented development, encourage housing creation, and enable safe and effective multi-modal transportation.

Redwood City seeks a knowledgeable and forward-thinking community development professional with contemporary experience leading cutting-edge initiatives. This personable leader will value community engagement and possess exceptional interpersonal skills. The future Director will exhibit a flexible leadership style and lead a talented team in providing responsive customer service. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in municipal management and community development, including two years of supervisory experience, and a Bachelor’s degree is required.
