Nestled in the foothills of Mt. Diablo, Concord is a major suburban community located 29 miles east of San Francisco. As the largest city in Contra Costa County, with approximately 130,000 residents, Concord residents enjoy many amenities that contribute to an excellent quality of life. The City has a workforce of 408 employees and a budget of $97.3 million. 

The City is seeking a collaborative and astute professional who is excited by the opportunity to lead a highly functional team of 51 FTEs, staffing five major divisions in the Community and Economic Development Department: Planning and Housing, Building, Transportation, Engineering, and Economic Development. The Director manages a budget of $46.6 million and plays a pivotal role guiding significant projects shaping the City’s future. Energetic, skillful and results-oriented, this individual joins a collaborative executive team. Bachelor’s degree, and 6 years of experience in economic/community development (3 years as supervisor) are required. Master’s degree is highly preferred.
