The City of Mountain View (pop. 83,864) is regarded as one of the safest and best places to live and work in the Bay Area. This Silicon Valley municipality maintains an AAA credit rating and remains fiscally resilient. The Community Development Department is organized across four divisions. The Assistant Director for Planning acts as the Zoning Administrator and oversees the Planning Division which consists of team of 23 staff and budget of approximately $5.9 million.

The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge and a sophisticated understanding of planning and development functions in the public sector. They will be energized by working on complex projects in a fast-paced, high-volume department and supportive environment. Successful candidates will have six years of professional public sector experience in urban planning, with two years in a managerial capacity that includes supervision. Bachelor’s degree required. A master’s + AICP certification preferred.
